OpenKnowledge is a management consulting firm which started operating in January 2008 with the aim to bring Web 2.0 ideas and instruments within the enterprise of their clients.
It is our objective to  improve the learning and training processes, management and development of professional communities;  encourage the circulation of knowledge within an organization and increase engagement with customers as well as the potential for innovation.

What makes us different from other firms? The contamination of competences, the diversity of professionals and wide range of ideas, the desire to connect and be connected, the passion for change when it come to business performance and above all  the focus on the needs and wishes of human beings, without which no people-focused project can have any success.

    Cybernetic Physicist with a Master Degree in Marketing and Social Communication, past CEO of Semantic Internet Innovation Ltd. He has a sound experience in the experimentation of innovative pedagogical methods. He has been consultant in South Pacific Islands (Fiji) and Project Manager in Chile for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Vietnam for Médecins sans Frontiers, in Italy for Learning Technologies – A. De Little, RSO, Ministry of Social Affairs and ELEA Spa (De Agostini Group). He has published lots of articles about the application of new technologies in learning processes and he is co-author of the book “Il computer elementare” edited by Apogeo, (2003) and co-author of the new book ”Community Management Processi informali e tecnologie Web 2.0 per la gestione della conoscenza nelle organizzazioni” ( Formal and Informal learning) Ed. Apogeo year 2007.

    Emanuele Quintarelli

    Partner, Social Business Strategist

    Emanuele Quintarelli is Partner and Enterprise 2.0 Strategist in Open Knowledge. Prior to joining Open Knowledge he was the Web 2.0 Research and Development Director in Reed Business Information (Reed Elsevier) and Senior Consultant in Accenture.
    Emanuele is a lead researcher, analyst and blogger on the adoption of collaborative approaches by large organizations in order to increase their productivity, efficiency, reactivity to the market and innovative potential.

    He co-authored the book “Web 2.0. Internet is changed” for Il Sole 24 Ore and since 2005 he organized some of the most successful European conferences about social media and user experience like the Information Architecture Summit, Beyond Web 2.0 and the International Forum on Enterprise 2.0.
    He also founded Facetag.org (a research project to show how the traditional classification schemes can be mixed with emerging folksonomies) and Netwo.it (the first hub for web 2.0 startups in Italy).

    PhD at University of Sidney. Over 35 years of experience in management consulting, is considered an international reference on the themes of knowledge management and intellectual capital. Has academic assignments both in Australia and in Europe and several publications in international magazines. Is founder and partner of Optimice ltd, with them he has developed an original approach to ONA-Organisational Network Analysis.

    He started his professional activities in 1969 at SIT Siemens (now Italtel) focused on simulation models for telephone exchange.
 From 1971 to 1976 Erminio worked in Sperry Univac (now Unisys) as project leader for manufacturer companies and public administrations. From 1976 he was engaged in management of BTicino (now Legrand Group) where he was COO and CIO. From 2003 Erminio is the President of the Italian Association “Aused, Associazione Utilizzatori Sistemi e tecnologie dell’Informazione”. From October 2008 is President and Partner of OpenKnowledge.

    Graduated in Philosophy. Specialist at the Italian Institute of Philosophical Studies. Master in Marketing & Service Management. Expert in designing learning systems, network analysis and organizational development. Giuseppe studies the evolution of services and job profiles within the public sector and business areas. He was project manager for several companies supporting internal communication activities, training programs, organizational analysis and design. Interested in experiential training, teambuilding, teamwork and innovative forms of collaboration and work organization. From March 2009 is in OpenKnowledge as Project Manager.

    Business Developement Manager

    Paola has a degree in literature with a specialization in linguistic and semiology, a master in advertising at Scuola Superiore delle Comunicazioni Sociali Cattolica. A master in Organizational management at SDA Bocconi, she is deeply skilled in strategic marketing applied to media and communication.
    Marketing director for Mondadori and Manzoni. As a consultant she has developed projects on media: new markets assessments, organization positioning, advertising public, qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.

    Stefano Besana

    Social Learning Consultant

    Stefano has a master degree in Longlife Education and a bachelor in Learning Processes achieved with a thesis on how to use social networks within companies to generate significant learning (awarded by Working Capital Telecom Italia as one of the most innovative projects in 2010). He has been also visiting student at UCLA in 2011.
    He deals with new technologies and their application in the fields of innovation and learning processes.
    In the past he has worked as a Web Developer and Social Media Consultant, focusing on promotion and monitoring (buzz analysis) but also as a professional trainer.
    He writes for HTML.it and is responsible for Web and New Media section of JazzAscona Festival.

    He practices Karate-Do.

    Jacopo has over 10 years of experience in design and development of web application, always focusing in Rich Media and interactivity, user-experience, usability, analytics and conversion. In this year he has worked in many fields: education, e-learning, e-commerce, gaming, media and advertising.

    Jacopo felt in love with China during a bicycle trip when he was 18 and starting study Chinese when China wasn’t “hot”. Since 2002 he moved to Shanghai where today he coordinates OpenKnowledge China.

    Andrea Pesoli

    Social Business Consultant

    Andrea Pesoli is Project Manager and Social Business Consultant for Open Knowledge, where he leads both the Social Innovation and the Social Analytics practice. He also oversees all UK-based operations.

    Prior to joining Open Knowledge, he was a research analyst at the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano on ICT-driven innovation, particularly on social and collaborative technologies (co-authoring 9 research reports, 5 international publications and more than 10 Italian publications). He was a member of the faculty team involved in EU-funded projects.

    Andrea graduated with a MSc of Management from Politecnico di Milano (2006) and an MBA through MIP-Politecnico di Milano in 2010.

    Paolo has over 20 years of experience in Management Consulting for KPMG. In his professional life has covered leadership roles at international levels in the fields of corporate finance, strategy and knowledge management with experiences in US (New York and Silicon Valley) and in several emergent countries in Asia, Sud America and Russia working on complex project for multinational organizations, such as World Band and European Development Bank.
    In the last years has developed a keen interest in new media and technological innovation in the corporate education field.

    Jonathan Sixsmith

    Social Media Consultant

    After a degree in Story and Philosophy of Science, Jonathan spent the last 5 years working in different fields of marketing. He has done on-line and off-line monitoring for international brand campaigns such as Nokia and Audi supporting the initiatives of companies, newspapers and sport clubs.
    Besides form working for OpenKnowledge he is also continuing a specialization in Information Technology at the Open University.

    Lara Ermacora

    Since always interested in communication dynamics, has a degree in Science of Cultural Heritage completed under the guide of professor Giannalberto Bendazzi with whom she is still  collaborating for a book. She is specialized in Cinema and New Media with a degree on game dynamics and their application to Cinema. She has attended the Social Media Lab: a course of high specialization in Web 2.0, Online Business and Social Media Marketing. Before joining OpenKnowedge she has been Social Media Consultant for Pirelli. During the university period she has worked as a freelance in many fields: web developing, video-making, graphic design and event management.

He Develops his professional career in BPR and innovation, cultivating projects both in technological (RFID, sensing and automation) and organizational fields (IT Change Management and ICT innovation).
    For two years he has worked in applied research, training and advicing at the RFID Research Center of the Politecnico di Milano.

    Animated by a strong entrepreneurial spirit, in 2010 worked with a consulting firm based in the UK in the opening of the Italian business unit. In 2011 participates in the creation of a start-up dedicated to technological innovation projects.

    Annalisa has a degree in foreign languages and literature and began his career as a translator of technical documents in plant oil. After an internship in the office of the recruitment and selection of personnel she moves in the field of Human Resources, where she acquired a decade of experience, she first worked in recruitment and then in personnel administration. In Open Knowledge holds the position of Office Manager.

    Valeria has a professional experience on B2B and B2C strategies developed as product manager in Italy. Her expertise and interests range from marketing in all its form to Commercial BDM (the role she covered for the past 6 years) and Event Management; PR and consulting approach are her key competences. Member of the Board of the International Advertising Association Italy Chapter, she is also involved in leisure activities ranging from membership to organizing events linked to the world of education and training in communication and in updating best practices in marketing and ADV, working with some of excellence in the field of communication in Italy.

    Computer science graduate with a dissertation on 3D visualization of medical data, has worked as an architect, designer and developer for social media applications, participating in large-scale integration and implementation projects for social networking platforms, both on the web and on mobile devices.

    He has teached business analysis and computergraphics at Politecnico di Milano and at the University of Pavia and writes about music on his own blog, besides collaborating with some Italian musical magazines like zero.eu and frequencies.it.

    Valentia studied Graphic Design at IED Rome, she passed through writing experiences, and then she specialized in photography and reportage. Since 1992 collaborates with several agencies of communication between Rome and Milan and since 2006 is responsible for organizing cultural and no-profit events.

    For OpenKnwowledge she is the community manager of Lumix Lifestyle Italia.

    Robert is a communications consultant and copywriter who has worked on web-based projects both in Italy and the UK, where he is originally from. A graduate of Oxford University, where he studied English, Robert specializes in researching and writing content that tells engaging stories about people and organisations.
    In London he studied Applied Linguistics at Masters level and wrote for uSwitch, a price comparison site, and the Governance Hub, an online resource for trustees supported by a consortium of leading voluntary organisations and the UK government. Robert also teaches Business English and is the founder of the Milan Business English Network.

    He has collaborated with Open Knowledge on a number of recent social media projects.

He conducted extensive qualitative research in the US, several European countries and Asia (Japan, China, Thailand). In the last few years Joseph developed an original approach to brand storytelling in advertising and websites, He published a recent book, ‘Marketing Narrativo’, i.e., Narrative Marketing (Franco Angeli, Milan, 2011). It’s about how brands can use storytelling in contemporary marketing. The last book following subject: ‘Web Storytelling’. It’s about how you can create brand stories in social media. It has just been published (February 2012).
